Community Engagement

Service 1 FCU is involved in a variety of activities that benefit the communities around us. We support and are engaged in assisting the American Cancer Society/Relay for Life, the Muskegon Rescue Mission and Love I.N.C., The Kindness Rally, the Shell Knob Alliance of Churches Food Pantry (MO), the Central Crossing Senior Center in Shell Knob, Restoration Life Center, East Newton United in Neosho (MO), KickStart to Career, Kid’s Food Basket, Penelope House (AL), the Child Abuse Council of Muskegon County, the Neosho Freeman Family YMCA, and various other charitable organizations in our communities.

2023 far! 

CU Kind Day

Credit unions across the nation joined forces to highlight the “People Helping People” cooperative philosophy on CU Kind Day, October 9, 2023. With the help of a grant from the Michigan Credit Union Foundation, Service 1 FCU team members activated in each of the communities we serve to share joy with random acts of kindness. Over 530 people were reached!

Kids’ Food Basket | Brown Bag Decorating Day

From decorating parties to individual take-home volunteers, the team volunteered countless hours to jazz up nearly 3,000 Sack Supper bags for Kids’ Food Basket of Muskegon (MI) that will be filled with nutritious meals to benefit food-insecure kids.

Scholarship Program

Calvin J. Peterson Memorial Scholarship

The scholarship program was established in 2008 in honor and memory of former Board President Calvin J. Peterson, a passionate advocate for educational initiatives.

The 2024-2025 scholarship application period is set to open in the fall of 2023. Thank you for your interest.

Congratulations Jasmine D. (of Missouri) and Aysia K. (of Michigan), 2023 Calvin J. Peterson Memorial Scholarship recipients! The recipients were selected by an impartial committee based on academic merit, community involvement, and statement of goals. Best of luck to these students on their continued education!
