COLLECTION MANAGER

Service 1 Federal Credit Union is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable and motivated Collection Manager. The Collection Manager will be responsible for managing collection accounts and overseeing the collection department while ensuring that the collection policies and procedures best serve the credit union and its members. Applicants should possess strong leadership skills, empathetic communication skills, and attention to detail.

Essential functions include: 

  • Ensure that credit and collection policies, procedures, practices and documentation meet Federal and State guidelines.
  • Monitor and supervise the department workload to ensure smooth and efficient flow of work.  Ensure courteous, professional and considerate communication with members at all times. 
  • Monitor effective control procedures for negative and delinquent accounts. 
  • Regularly communicate and monitor the adherence to procedures to protect the credit union’s interests while utilizing collection techniques to resolve issues quickly and positively.
  • Review and monitor accounts that exceed routine collection procedures. Handle complex situations and resolve complex escalated member issues. 
  • Monitor payments for delinquent loans and negative checking accounts.  Follow-up on delinquent, high-balance and overdue accounts ensuring a professional interface with members.
  • Review all invoices from attorneys and other collection vendors to ensure accuracy and timely payment. 
  • Authorize legal proceedings. Review default notices/letters, surrender & intent to proceed notices, bankruptcy procedures, foreclosure notices, etc. for accuracy and completeness. 
  • Review all accounts that will be recommended for write-off and documented as uncollectable. Determine if future recoveries will be possible and document status updates throughout the process. 
  • Determine when loan collateral should be repossessed, serve as a liaison with attorney, collection agencies, repossession agencies and auction facilities throughout the repossession process.
  • Determine when to compromise and settle balances and when to initiate foreclosure or court proceedings.
  • File claims, attend hearings and coordinate with trustees for all bankruptcy filings. 
  • Coach, mentor and evaluate the job performance of the collection team to ensure quality work and service to members. 
  • Perform other duties as needed. 

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of work-related collection experience. Collection experience should include knowledge and understanding of intermediate debt collection processes and procedures, laws and regulations and collection techniques in a financial institution environment
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience (preferred)

  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified time frames

TELLER SUPERVISOR

Service 1 Federal Credit Union is seeking a knowledgeable, detail-oriented and motivated Teller Supervisor (full-time). The Teller Supervisor will be responsible for the overall supervision and operations of the Member Service Representative (MSR) area, providing guidance for the efficient and accurate handling of member needs and ensuring adherence to Service 1 FCU’s service standards and mission statement. Essential functions include:

  • Serve as vault teller: forecast, order, verify, and balance all cash handled at the branch while maintaining dual control.
  • Manage and maintain TCD recyclers, coin machine, night deposit, and ATM (where applicable). 
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of policies and procedures and ensure that team members are in compliance, with particular attention to the Cash Policy, Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, and robbery/security procedures.    
  • Oversee the daily operations of the front line by scheduling hours, delegating responsibilities, problem solving, and assisting with complex transactions.
  • Ensure the team is trained in all aspects of their positionsas well as cross-trained, to provide the highest quality of member service and maintain accuracy in transactions. 
  • Promote a cross-selling “Yes Culture” environment within the branch.
  • Leading a well-trained, highly motivated team by providing mentoring and coaching to support and develop team members.
  • Participate in team meetings by presenting general information, exchanging ideas, and discussing areas of improvement, procedural changes and new product developments/services.
  • Approve member exceptions and authorize service fee refunds when necessary.
  • Maintain adequate supplies (literature, forms, etc.) in the Member Service Department. 
  • Monitor and evaluate MSR performance, concentrating on balancing and accuracy, providing feedback at least quarterly. In the event of performance issues, mentor MSRs in proper procedures and develop corrective improvement plan. Implement disciplinary action when necessary. 
  • May function as a MSR on an as needed basis, filling in during peak schedules or for an absence/ shortage on the teller line.
  • Perform other duties as needed. 

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma 

  • Experience in financial institutions preferred  

  • Supervisory experience preferred
