Service 1 FCU was a proud sponsor of the Muskegon Rescue Mission's "Soup for Suits" fundraising event held at Fricano's Event Center in Muskegon on February 11, 2014.
The event brought in a record number of community supporters who enjoyed a bread and soup luncheon in exchange for donations to the Rescue Mission.
Service 1 FCU team members had a great time waiting on and bussing tables for one of our favorite charities!
15 Team Service 1 FCU members took the Polar Plunge into a frigid Muskegon Lake on February 8, 2014 at Fricano's Event Center in Muskegon. The event had a record turn-out with 500 participants taking the plunge to raise money for Special Olympics of Michigan. These brave participants were "freezin' for a reason" and Team Service 1 FCU raised over $2,000 for the cause!
Muskegon, MI, February 6, 2014– For the 5th year in a row, a cooperative group of local Muskegon area credit unions joined together to conduct a food drive and fund raising campaign to benefit the LOVE, INC. and Muskegon Rescue Mission Food Pantries. The credit union community collected over 8,500 pounds of food donations, which went directly to the two local pantries.
“The credit union food drive is such a blessing,” said Charlene Spaulding, Volunteer Coordinator, at Muskegon Rescue Mission. “The work of your hands is far beyond what we could have imagined. Thank you!”
Community members were challenged to help us “Fill Our Truck” by dropping off food, personal care and non-perishable items to the following 13 participating credit unions of the MOON Chapter during November and December 2013: Best Financial Credit Union, Family Financial CU, First General CU, Harborlight CU, Lakeshore FCU, Michigan Coastal CU, Muskegon Co-op FCU, Muskegon Governmental CU, SB Community FCU, Port City FCU, Service 1 FCU, Shoreline FCU, and Tri-Cities CU.
The partnering credit unions would like to thank the community for their outstanding support of the 2013 Credit Union Food Drive. Team members of each credit union enjoyed working together on this cooperative campaign to help feed adults and children in West Michigan.
Service 1 Federal Credit Union locations in Muskegon once again served as collection sites for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots program.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our employees, members and the entire community the credit union was able to collect dozens of new,unwrapped toys throughout the months of November and December 2013.
Through Toys For Tots, U.S. Marines have distributed more than 450 million toys to more than 200 million needy children over the past 65 years.
Our Muskegon and Neosho members were visited by Santa Claus in December, 2013! We had lots of goodies, lots of fun, and plenty of smiles. Thanks for stopping by Santa!
Service 1 FCU sponsored Santa's visit to the children of Shell Knob preceding the 17th Annual Christmas for Veterans event on Saturday, December 21, 2013, at VFW Post 2203 in Shell Knob, MO. The event featured a "Winter Wonderland" compromised of more than 100 Christmas trees, tens of thousands of lights, trains and stuffed animals. Service 1 supplied holiday coloring books and crayons to the children in attendance, and Santa visited from 10 AM – 2 PM.
Service 1 FCU along with other community businesses sponsored the 22nd Annual Holiday Dazzle Style Show held on November 14, 2013 at the Watermark Center in Muskegon. The annual event features a style show, luncheon, silent auction, and vendor sales from local boutiques.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Child Abuse Council of Muskegon County and over $19,000 was raised to assist the Child Abuse Council in their mission to keep Muskegon a safe and happy place for all its children.
Service 1 FCU worked together with 12 other credit unions of the MOON Chapter of credit unions to kick off the 5th annual food drive to benefit Muskegon Rescue Mission, Love INC and other local pantries.
We had so much fun at the 2013 Pumpkin Decorating contest on October 26 at our Lakes Mall Branch in Muskegon! Over 100 of our Astro Kids Club members came out to amaze us with all their creativity!
S1FCU sponsored Madeline in the 4-H Race of Revolution 5K and Fun Run in October 2013 at the Neosho YMCA.
The event is a benefit 5k run/walk for Newton County 4-H youth and is intended to encourage youth to participate in the program, while raising funds for the 4-H council.
Service 1 FCU branches in Muskegon had the opportunity to host the "Wheels of Mercy" mobile health screening vehicle on October 16 and 17, 2013.

Over 40 Service 1 FCU employees and members participated in the 10th Annual Muskegon Walk for Diabetes on June 1, 2013. As a credit union community, we raised over $6,400 for the Muskegon Community Health Project.
Our Mobile employees and members raised $759 for the March of Dimes and walked in the March for Babies held on May 4th at Five Rivers Delta in Spanish Fort, Alabama.
